the league is almost in its final stages now, and the blacks looked to follow up last week's 21-1 annihilation of fc squirrels with another similar show this week, against the road warriors (on sunday at tampines indoor stadium). with wayne, ishak, kenneth, mingcong, ruy and magnus unavailable, the team was relatively weaker, but that wasn't gonna give us any excuses, as we needed to win big to maintain a better goal difference than nus saints, in the event that it should play a part on the final day. the match was eventually to disappoint though.

a rather disappointin' performance from us, no doubt. considerin' the fact that this match was crucial in our buildup to the final day, we played terribly. to some extent, i think we were complacent, and almost paid the price for it, as the road warriors even took the lead at one point. thankfully, we just about did enough to ensure that, should it ever come down to goal difference between us and nus saints, we'd edge them out.

on a personal note, i scored again this week. that makes it the 4th game in a row now that i've managed to find the net. surprisin' eh? and it's all thanks to Him and lydia "lucky charm" lee. even managed to do a lil' baseball-style celebration with the lady afterwards (ask her about it, heh).

oh, the fellas were nice enough to hand me the "man-of-the-match" award for this week based on my performance. that doesn't matter to me as much as how we work as a team on court though. we have to perform much, much better, if we're to get the much-needed and very possible win against tampines east knights (tek) on d-day. well, i guess it's good in a way that we played badly this week. cos' it'll definitely ensure we're not in the least bit complacent against tek. so it might turn out to be a blessin' in disguise after all.

speakin' about tek, the buildup to our game against them has very much been in our favour. tek lost to singapore schools on saturday, which mathematically rules them out of the runnin' for that all-important 2nd spot. the score? 9-1. so not only do tek not have any motivational reason to go all out for a win this comin' saturday (besides pride, of course), the 9-1 scoreline suggests that if we go all out, we should be able to beat them comfortably.

it's an excitin' week ahead, my friends. will build up to our most important day of the blacks' season later in the week.

    watch this space.
