    thriller

    on saturday nite, i was at the lady's place, watchin' michael jackson's ground-breakin' budapest concert from the early 90's. as i sat there with the lady and her family, all of us were relishin' with fondness some of the revolutionary songs and dance moves that graced our lives all those years ago.

    the clock swung back more than a decade for me on saturday. i remember the very first album (casette tape, no less) that my dad bought for me. one that was close to my heart. it was dangerous, and boy, did i memorise every song down to the last syllable. mj was my childhood idol. for many years, i lapped up everythin' mj, from his dance moves to posters, singles, water bottles, video games, and even perfume (yes, i mean perfume).

    and so as i sat there reminiscin', it struck me way later than it should have. mj was not here with us anymore. the man who revolutionised pop in a way that will never be matched was gone, for good.

    and now, i'm lappin' up everythin' mj all over again. from jam to thriller to the famous sega genesis game moonwalker, everythin' that represents the definitive face, voice and feet of pop suddenly feels special and treasured again.

    rest well mj. billie jean will always remain my favourite song, the moonwalk my favourite dance move, and u my childhood idol and favourite artiste.
